Marcus Evans Affordable Housing Projects Conference in Malaysia

In April 2025 Karen Walsh, CEO, National Shelter was invited to present at the Marcus Evans Affordable Housing Projects Conference in Malaysia to an international delegation of senior housing professionals. Her presentation entitled “Sustainable Finance, Investment Frameworks, and Policy Levers to Successfully Boost Affordable Housing Supply” included case studies for affordable housing developments which are delivering social and economic impact in the Australian context. Karen also led a plenary discussion on NIMBYism and the challenges for delivering affordable housing supply in urban settings, which generated enthusiastic engagement from the delegates and highlighted the different drivers and solutions to these challenges across diverse housing and policy contexts throughout  the world.
