2016 “Housing Matters” E Bulletins

  • 27 June 2016 – The Generic Homelessness Services Network is made up of service providers from South Australia who provide critical support services to people experiencing homelessness. Shelter SA is supporting the Network through publishing a media release and position statement available via the ebulletin.  Also, view our latest You Tube Video – “What the political parties are saying”!
  • 24 June 2016 View Shelter SA’s latest video  #VoteHome kids!  Also read a paper recently published by Professor Emma Baker, Professor Andrew Beer and Assoc. Professor Rebecca Bentley  entitled “Housing affordability and residential mobility as drivers of locational inequality” in The Conversation online newsletter.  The growing number of rough sleepers discussed in State Parliament recorded in Hansard.
  • 16 June 2016 National Shelter, Community Sector Banking and SGS Economics and Planning have formed a partnership to develop and release the Rental Affordability Index (RAI) on a quarterly basis.  Access links to the Index and National Shelter media releases via this ebulletin.  Also, Bill Shorten and the ALP have announced today their housing strategy.
  • 10 June 2016 Read about the recently held community sector pre-election forum which was hosted by Shelter SA, SACOSS, Community Housing Council SA and Homelessness SA.  Plus information about other upcoming sector Federal election forums.
  • 1 June 2016 – Read Shelter SA’s latest Port Lincoln Regional Engagement Strategy report and view the latest You Tube video.  Also information about the SACOSS, Shelter SA, Community Housing Council SA and Homelessness SA major Pre-Election Forum which will be focusing on issues of significance for the South Australian health and community services sector.  There’s also more about the National housing and homelessness election campaign – Vote Home.
  • 26 May 2016 – Show your support and check out the latest updates for the National housing and homelessness election campaign Vote Home.  What will you be doing to celebrate National Reconciliation Week? Plus information about the June Parity Magazine call for contributions.
  • 11 May 2016   Shelter SA has produced a comprehensive listing of all South Australian regional councils, community services, and generic homelessness services with links to their respective websites.  The Directory is designed to assist all people who are specifically looking for support or advice regarding housing and homelessness and domestic violence in regional South Australia.  Also, Anti-Poverty Network SA has published its first ever newsletter for all to read and share!
  • 5 May 2016  –  Read National Shelter’s response to last night’s budget announcement.  Also available is the Anglicare Australia 2016 Rental Affordability Snapshot.
  • 27 April 2016 – SA produces regular You Tube videos which showcase its work, useful guides, current housing issues and other housing and homelessness information. You can view all of our videos via our Publications tab.  Please subscribe to our channel.
  • 20 April 2016 – Read the DCSI report – City Rough Sleeper Count report for August 2015.
  • 14 April 2016 – Read our article “House for Rent – Apply Within:  A Report on Renting in SA”, AHURI Report – Indigenous lifeworlds, conditionality and housing outcomes and check out information about Community Food SA

  • 22 February 2016 – Read Shelter SA’s new Information Sharing Guidelines Appendix, also the SA Government’s guide on finding a place to rent plus an article in Pro Bono about Domestic Violence and how it is contributing to homelessness.
